Background & context

Preußen hob die Landwehr 1813 aus der Bürgerschaft aus, weil die stehende Armee seit Tilsit auf eine Zahl begrenzt war, die gegen Napoleon nicht reichte. Uniformen und Gewehre fehlten an allen Ecken, mancher Verband rückte mit Piken und Beutewaffen ins Feld. Aus diesen zusammengewürfelten Bataillonen wurde binnen zweier Feldzüge eine tragende Säule der preußischen Armee, die 1815 bei Ligny und Waterloo mit an der Front stand.

On the tabletop

The Prussian Landwehr of 1813 was so poorly equipped that some men carried a pike instead of a musket. This pack shows exactly that: ten fallen and wounded Landwehr men in four metal variants, together with six muskets and four pikes. In Black Powder they serve as casualty markers for your Landwehr battalions, from the first campaigns to Ligny and Waterloo.
