Background & context

Between the Russian campaign of 1812 and Waterloo, France lost its trained year groups faster than it could replace them. The line infantry remained the backbone of the army but increasingly consisted of young conscripts who joined the battle line after a few weeks of drill. At Leipzig and Waterloo the dead lay in their hundreds on narrow stretches of ground. A set of casualty models brings some of this back to the gaming table.

On the tabletop

Between the Russian campaign of 1812 and Waterloo, ever younger conscripts filled the ranks of the French line infantry. The twelve fallen and wounded line infantrymen in 28mm metal suit your battalions of this late period. In Black Powder place them next to a battered unit instead of removing figures from the table, for instance at Leipzig or Waterloo.
