    Product details

    Background & context

The Anglo-Zulu War of 1879 arose from British expansionist pressures in Southern Africa. Zulu impis fought with high mobility, discipline, and close-quarters combat strength, particularly famously at Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift. The distinction between married and unmarried regiments reflected age, status, and military role within the Zulu army.

    On the tabletop

The married regiments were the older and more experienced core of the Zulu army, and these 32 warriors let you field them in Black Powder. Throwing spears, old muskets and the short stabbing spear show that the impi first works at range and then seeks close combat. In the buffalo horns formation experienced regiments formed the chest that pinned the enemy from the front while the horns encircled him. A booklet with Zulu history and a Black Powder profile is included.
