Background & context

1765 vom Stapel gelaufen, war die Victory bei Trafalgar schon vierzig Jahre alt und hatte mehrere Umbauten hinter sich. Ihre hundert Kanonen auf drei Decks machten sie zum Flaggschiff, ihre Geschichte machte sie zum Mythos: Nelson fiel an Bord, während der Sieg längst feststand. Danach diente sie noch Jahrzehnte als Depot- und Wohnschiff, statt abgewrackt zu werden. Heute steht sie im Trockendock von Portsmouth und ist immer noch offiziell in Dienst gestellt.

On the tabletop

HMS Victory was a first rate with 100 guns on three decks and is still in commission with the Royal Navy today. In Black Seas you place her at the head of your British fleet as flagship, as Nelson led her at Trafalgar on 21 October 1805. Before that she fought at Ushant, Cape Spartel and as Admiral Jervis's flagship at Cape St Vincent, and she suits those battles too. Printed sails, rigging thread, ratlines and flags are included.
