    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    In the 18th century, many North American settlements had to organize their own defense. The British army had a limited presence in America, which meant local militias played an important role. Such units consisted of civilian inhabitants and, depending on their political allegiance, could fight on either the patriotic or loyalist side. Their attire, consisting of everyday clothes, hunting shirts, and various headwear, is consistent with the irregular troops of the American Revolution and the French and Indian War.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    Colonial Militia are suitable in Black Powder and Sharp Practice as flexible, but less regular infantry for 18th-century North American conflicts. The models can represent militia, Loyalists, or irregular colonial troops, making them useful for both the American War of Independence and the French and Indian War. On the tabletop, they take on tasks such as guarding, flank protection, and skirmishes in loose formation. Their strength lies less in frontal assault than in scenarios involving terrain, ambushes, and local defense.
