Background & context

After Operation Barbarossa failed to knock out the Soviet Union in 1941, the German command turned its attack south in 1942. Under the name Fall Blau the aim was to take the Caucasus oil fields that Germany badly needed. From late June German armies pushed far east together with Romanian, Hungarian and Italian formations. By autumn Soviet resistance had stiffened, and on the Volga the offensive ground to a halt in the fighting for Stalingrad.

On the tabletop

The scenarios in this book build on each other, so you play the offensive as a chain of battles, from the rapid advance to the Soviet counter-attacks. Theatre Selectors and new troop types cover the Germans and their Romanian, Hungarian and Italian allies as well as the Red Army. Extra rules add to the core rulebook, which you need to play.
