    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The B-26 Marauder was one of the fastest twin-engine medium bombers of the US Army Air Forces in World War II. With its two Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engines and an aerodynamically optimized airframe, it achieved high speeds that clearly distinguished it from classic bomber designs of its time. In its early years of service, the Marauder demanded exceptional piloting skills from its crews-a high landing speed and its comparatively small wings left little room for error. However, after targeted improvements in the training program and constructive modifications, the Marauder developed into one of the most reliable bombers on the Western Front, with one of the lowest loss rates of all Allied bomber types.

The squadron is suitable for medium bomber dogfights and air strike scenarios; its strengths should be deliberately leveraged in scenarios set in the Western Front, North Africa, and Italy. For the USA, it provides a thematically clear choice that can be used directly with the appropriate cards, bases, and markers.
