Background & context

The B-26 Marauder was one of the fastest twin-engine medium bombers of the US Army Air Forces in World War II. With its two Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engines and an aerodynamically optimized airframe, it achieved high speeds that clearly distinguished it from classic bomber designs of its time. In its early years of service, the Marauder demanded exceptional piloting skills from its crews-a high landing speed and its comparatively small wings left little room for error. However, after targeted improvements in the training program and constructive modifications, the Marauder developed into one of the most reliable bombers on the Western Front, with one of the lowest loss rates of all Allied bomber types.

On the tabletop

Three Martin B-26B Marauders provide a fast USAAF medium bomber formation in Blood Red Skies, escorted by your fighters and hunted by your opponent. Multi-engine aircraft cannot be used without the Air Strike! supplement, so you will need it. After a high accident rate at first, the Marauder ended the war with the lowest loss rate of any USAAF bomber. It flew in Europe, the Mediterranean and the Pacific, giving it plenty of possible settings.
