Background & context

In April 1945 the Red Army stood on the Oder, less than eighty kilometres from Berlin. On 16 April the offensive got under way and, under massive artillery fire, ate its way through the German positions on the Seelow Heights. After that Zhukov and Konev ran a race for the city. In Berlin the battle broke down into street and house-to-house fighting in which assault groups with tank support took block after block, all the way to the Reichstag.

On the tabletop

This book gives you the Soviet forces for the assault on Berlin in 1945 in Flames of War. Eleven formations are available, among them battalions of Lend-Lease Shermans, guards regiments with heavy IS-2 tanks, a Red Banner rifle regiment, a reconnaissance company and an assault engineer battalion. A Berlin mission, a scenario, additional rules for fighting at night and painting notes for your force round off the contents.
