Product details

Background & context

When the German 6th Army rolled towards Stalingrad in August 1942, there were hardly any regular formations between it and the city. So the workforces of the factories took up arms themselves: at the Tractor Factory and the Red October steelworks, workers' battalions were raised, some of which went out with tanks that had still been on the assembly line the day before. Olga Kovalyova worked as a steel smelter and was one of the first women of this militia to be killed.

On the tabletop

With the Soviet army book for Bolt Action, third edition, you raise the Red Army: 112 colour pages with profiles for infantry, artillery and vehicles, national special rules and background. The Olga Kovalyova special figure wears work clothes and carries a submachine gun and a flag. She represents the women workers who took up arms in the Battle of Stalingrad and suits a force for the fighting in the city's factories in 1942.
