Background & context

From 1941 Japan's land forces fought on a stage of jungle, coral reef and monsoon, against the Allies and against the climate in equal measure. Alongside the Imperial Army, the fleet's naval landing forces took the field, and from 1942 paratroop units of their own as well. Hiroo Onoda was one of the officers who did not give up after the surrender: on Lubang he held out for almost 29 years and surrendered only in 1974, after his former superior had personally convinced him that the war was over.

With Armies of Imperial Japan you raise a Japanese army for Bolt Action, third edition. The book contains unit profiles and national special rules for the army, the naval landing troops, paratroopers and more, plus background and colour illustrations. Your opponents are the Allies, often in jungle and monsoon. The special figure shows Hiroo Onoda at the start of his guerrilla campaign on Lubang and joins your Japanese force.
