Product details

Background & context

The Anglo-Zulu War of 1879 arose from British expansionist pressures in Southern Africa. Zulu impis fought with high mobility, discipline, and close-quarters combat strength, notably demonstrated at Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift. The distinction between married and unmarried regiments reflected age, status, and military role within the Zulu army.

On the tabletop

The Zulu Starter Army provides the foundation for a larger Zulu force in the Anglo-Zulu War. On the tabletop, it allows for wide attacking formations, rapid flanking maneuvers, and the typical pressure of large warrior units. Through married and unmarried warriors, different units can be represented within a cohesive Black Powder army.
