Product details

Background & context

Achtung Panzer! is about small tank actions, where a handful of vehicles fight around hedgerows, ruins and woodland edges and the first hit often settles things. Iron Coffins draws on the war diaries of Stanley Christopherson, who served with the British Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry from North Africa to Germany and commanded the regiment from 1944. The title echoes what crews said about their vehicles: a tank that was hit could quickly become an iron coffin.

On the tabletop

The rulebook is the foundation: you build a platoon of tanks, armoured cars or assault guns, pick crews and ammunition and play one of six missions. Iron Coffins builds on it with expanded campaign rules, new historical scenarios, tank aces and more than a hundred asset and event cards. The book also explains how to take the game to other theatres of the war. Stanley Christopherson comes as a figure on foot and as a half-figure for the hatch. That way you lead one crew through several battles across a full campaign.
