Product details

Background & context

The peoples of the eastern woodlands, from the Iroquois to the Abenaki, were no extras in the 18th century but powers in their own right. The French and British courted them, because without their warriors nobody controlled the forests between the Hudson and the Ohio. Anyone who met them in the field experienced a different kind of war: no volley fire in line, but scouting parties, ambushes and raids that were over before a company could even deploy.

On the tabletop

The 24 warriors form a Woodland war party for the 18th-century wars in North America in Black Powder, fighting alongside the French or the British. Their strength lies not in the battle line but in the forest: deploy them in cover and strike at flanks and isolated posts rather than facing a formed line. Muskets and tomahawks from the weapon options decide whether a warrior is set up to shoot or to charge.
