    Product details

    Background & context

The Tirpitz was the sister ship of the Bismarck and the heaviest European warship of its time. It was primarily deployed in Norway and tied up significant Allied forces, even though it rarely sailed actively. Its presence threatened Arctic convoys heading towards the Soviet Union, making it a strategic deterrent. Several British attacks damaged the ship until it was sunk in 1944 by heavy air raids.

    On the tabletop

The Tirpitz, sister ship of the Bismarck and the heaviest warship of any European navy, spent most of the time from 1942 in Norwegian fjords, tying down British forces. In Victory at Sea you use her against the convoys to the Soviet Union or refight the 1943 bombardment of Spitsbergen, the only time her main guns fired in anger. She also makes a target for British attacks with midget submarines, carrier aircraft and Lancaster bombers. The model is made of resin and metal.
