    Background & context

At the start of World War II, the Royal Navy was one of the largest naval forces in the world, but had to cover very different areas simultaneously. Many British capital ships were from older generations, but were modernized and used extensively. The Royal Navy fought against German commerce raiders in the Atlantic, against the Regia Marina in the Mediterranean, and later also in the Indian Ocean and Pacific. The box depicts this broad operational capability with carriers, battleships, cruisers, and destroyers.

    On the tabletop

This box is a British starter fleet for Victory at Sea: the carrier HMS Eagle with four flights of Fairey Swordfish, the battleship HMS Duke of York, the cruisers Neptune, Belfast and Dido and three Tribal-class destroyers. The Royal Navy fought on every sea at once: against German raiders in the Arctic and Atlantic, against the Regia Marina in the Mediterranean and against Japan in the Pacific. With these ships you can play any of those scenarios, while the Swordfish attack with torpedoes. Ship cards, damage markers and assembly instructions are included.
