    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    Protecting civilian trade routes was one of the crucial tasks of the Allied naval forces in World War II. Great Britain's supply of food, raw materials, and war goods depended almost entirely on the safe passage of Atlantic convoys. In the Pacific, the systematic disruption of Japanese supply lines put Japan's war economy in an increasingly precarious position. Freighters such as the mass-produced Liberty and Victory types formed the logistical backbone of the Allied war effort - without them, supplies to the front lines simply could not have been maintained.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    Convoy scenarios are among the most dramatic and tactically complex games in the Victory at Sea system. The merchant ships take on the role of vulnerable targets, whose protection or destruction determines the actual objective of the game. Attacking forces must overcome escorting forces, while defenders must keep cover and escape routes in mind. The tanker SS Ohio, as a special objective with historical significance, offers additional narrative appeal for thematic scenarios. The set is suitable for asymmetrical encounter scenarios as well as a central element of larger campaign sequences.
