Background & context

German U-boats were a central component of the Atlantic trade war, threatening Allied supply routes over long distances. Type IX boats were designed for extended operational ranges and could carry out long convoy operations. S-boats and R-boats supplemented this role in coastal and shallow water zones, where speed, torpedoes, and mine countermeasures or escort duties were important. The set expands the Kriegsmarine with small but tactically dangerous units.

On the tabletop

These seven small units expand your Kriegsmarine in Victory at Sea for the fight against convoys and along the coast. Three Type IX boats, the most successful U-boats of the war, shadow convoys over great distances and attack night after night. The two sections of S-100 E-boats make high-speed torpedo runs, while the two R-boat sections handle patrol, anti-submarine work, escort duty and minelaying. Ship cards for all units are included.
