    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The German Navy was rebuilt under severe restrictions after World War I. At the beginning of the war, Germany had only a few large surface ships, but it used them specifically as commerce raiders and as a threat to Allied convoys. Heavy cruisers, fast battleships, and destroyers were not intended to replace a British battle fleet, but rather to exert pinpoint pressure on supply lines. This box represents this mix of capital ships, cruisers, destroyers, and air support.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    The Kriegsmarine fleet represents a German battle group for commerce raiding, advances in the North Sea, and heavy engagements against Allied naval forces. Heavy units and cruisers give the fleet firepower, while destroyers and Stuka flights provide flexible support. On the tabletop, the set is useful as a core fleet for early and mid-war phases.
