IJN Aircraft contains nine Japanese resin flights for Victory at Sea: George fighters, Kate torpedo bombers and Nell bombers. The box strengthens Japanese fleets with carrier-based and land-based air power for attacks on ships, escort duties, and late Pacific scenarios.

Background & context

Japanese naval aviators played a decisive role in the Pacific War, demonstrating the striking power of massed air attacks early in the conflict. The Nakajima B5N Kate was an important torpedo bomber and became known for early attacks on Allied fleets. The Mitsubishi G3M Nell served as a maritime reconnaissance aircraft and bomber, while the Kawanishi N1K1 George represents a later fighter development. The set thus covers early and later roles of Japanese air forces.

On the tabletop

These nine flights add air power to your Japanese fleet in Victory at Sea: four flights of Kawanishi N1K1 George fighters, four flights of Nakajima B5N Kate torpedo bombers and one flight of Mitsubishi G3M Nell land-based bombers for reconnaissance or torpedo strikes. The Kate was the standard torpedo bomber and did great damage at Pearl Harbor, while Nells helped sink Repulse and Prince of Wales in 1941. That is how you attack enemy ships from the air.
