Product details

Background & context

HMS Ark Royal was one of the most famous British aircraft carriers of the Second World War. Her aircraft were involved in early Fleet Air Arm successes and played an important role in the hunt for the Bismarck. The carrier also participated in convoy operations to Malta and missions off Norway. In 1941, Ark Royal was torpedoed and sank while being towed.

On the tabletop

HMS Ark Royal gives your Royal Navy in Victory at Sea a flight deck and so the ability to strike far beyond gun range. She is best known for the hunt for the Bismarck, when a Swordfish torpedo hit the German battleship's rudder, so with both models you can refight the end of Operation Rheinübung. Malta convoys and the Norwegian campaign add further scenarios. In 1941 she was hit by a torpedo herself, so keep her behind your escorts.
