Product details

Background & context

Bismarck was the first of two ships of the Bismarck class and one of the largest battleships ever built by Germany. Her active service was brief, focusing on an attempt to break into the Atlantic and threaten Allied shipping. Operation Rheinübung led to the Battle of the Denmark Strait and the subsequent pursuit by the Royal Navy. Her sinking in May 1941 made her one of the most famous warships of World War II.

On the tabletop

The Bismarck is one of the largest battleships of any European navy and the natural flagship for your Kriegsmarine in Victory at Sea. With her you refight Operation Rheinübung in May 1941: the break-out into the Atlantic with Prinz Eugen, the action in the Denmark Strait against Hood and Prince of Wales, and the Royal Navy's pursuit until 27 May. Your opponent has to bring her to battle before she reaches the convoys.
