Background & context

Die sechs stehen für die Fronten dieses Krieges. Pappenheim ritt bei Lützen 1632 seiner eigenen Reiterei hinterher und starb dort, Piccolomini diente demselben kaiserlichen Lager und überlebte alle. Gustav Horn und Åke Tott führten schwedische Heere, Horn geriet 1634 bei Nördlingen in Gefangenschaft. Johann Georg I. lavierte Sachsen zwischen Kaiser und Schweden hindurch, und der Kardinal-Infant Ferdinand brachte die spanische Armee über die Alpen nach Flandern.

On the tabletop

With Pappenheim, Piccolomini, the Cardinal-Infante Ferdinand, Gustav Horn, Åke Tott and John George I of Saxony you get six commanders of the Thirty Years War for both sides in Pike & Shotte. Place Pappenheim, Piccolomini and the Cardinal-Infante with Imperial or Spanish troops, Horn and Tott with the Swedes, and let John George I lead the Saxons. That gives every brigade a named commander, for example in scenarios such as Lützen in 1632 or Nördlingen in 1634. All figures are metal.
