Background & context

Gustav Adolf stellte seine Infanterie flacher auf als die Kaiserlichen und schob leichte Regimentsstücke direkt in die Linie - bei Breitenfeld 1631 zeigte sich, was das wert war. Schweden war nie ein volkreiches Land, also füllten Deutsche, Schotten und Finnen die Reihen, während die heimischen Bataillone den Ruf trugen, auch bei drückender Übermacht zu stehen. Die Swinefeather diente doppelt: als Auflage für die Muskete und, in den Boden gerammt, als Sperre gegen Reiterei.

On the tabletop

With 47 figures as musketeers, pikemen and command group you field a Swedish regiment of the Thirty Years' War in Pike & Shotte. Under Gustavus Adolphus the Swedish infantry formed up shallower than the Imperialists, so you arrange broad musket lines and compact pike blocks side by side. Swinefeather rests, helmets for every figure and additional armoured pikemen are included. Breitenfeld in 1631, where this deployment proved its worth, is a fitting setting.
