    Product details

    Background & context

Portugal became an important ally of Great Britain in the Peninsular War. The Portuguese army was reformed under British influence and fought alongside Wellington. Portuguese line infantry, Caçadores, cavalry, and artillery played a significant role in the campaigns on the Iberian Peninsula.

    On the tabletop

This box lets you field a Portuguese line battalion for Wellington's army in the Peninsular War in Black Powder. After Beresford's reforms this infantry fought to British drill and from Bussaco onward stood as an equal beside the redcoats, so it belongs in your Anglo-Portuguese brigades. The barretina represents the early years, the stovepipe shako the period from 1810. An officer, a drummer, two standard bearers and ten flags are included.
