Background & context

Die portugiesische Artillerie war in vier Regimenter gegliedert und galt schon vor der Reform als solidester Teil der Armee. Sechspfünder waren dabei das Arbeitspferd: leicht genug, um über die schlechten Wege der Serra bewegt zu werden, und wirksam genug gegen Infanterie in Reichweite. In den Feldzügen ab 1810 standen portugiesische Batterien regelmäßig in gemischten Verbänden neben britischen Kanonieren.

On the tabletop

With this Portuguese 6-pounder and four gunners you start a battery of your own for the Peninsular War in Black Powder. The light field gun could be moved even over poor roads and is effective against infantry within range. Portuguese batteries often stood alongside British gunners, so your gun also fits into a mixed Anglo-Portuguese army. The 9-pounder and howitzer of the same range complete it.
