Background & context

Portugal became an important ally of Great Britain in the Peninsular War. The Portuguese army was reformed under British influence and fought alongside Wellington. Portuguese line infantry, Caçadores, cavalry, and artillery played a significant role in the campaigns on the Iberian Peninsula.

On the tabletop

Three mounted command figures take their place at the head of your Portuguese cavalry. The command party of a squadron carried the standard and the signal instrument, and the unit rallied wherever the standard stood. In Black Powder this makes the regiment recognisable across the whole table and gives your riders their leadership. From 1809 the Portuguese army was trained on British lines, and with the troopers of the range you can field a squadron for the Peninsular War.
