Product details

Background & context

The Finnish armed forces were among the most idiosyncratic and effective fighters of World War II. Despite being massively outnumbered, they held their own against one of the world's largest military machines, using their deep familiarity with the rugged forest terrain as a decisive advantage. Finnish soldiers were considered particularly adept at small-unit tactics, marksmanship, and silent movement through terrain. In the Continuation War, they fought alongside the Axis powers, increasingly relying on captured and supplied foreign equipment.

On the tabletop

Nine Finns in the M36 tunic form a rifle squad for Bolt Action that fits the Continuation War against the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1944 best. The NCO and one soldier carry submachine guns for close range, while the Lahti-Saloranta M/26 provides fire at longer range. Five riflemen and a man with a Molotov cocktail for use against vehicles complete the squad. Play it the way the Finns fought: strike out of the forest and disappear again.
