Background & context

Die Republik der Vereinigten Niederlande hielt sich eine Gardeinfanterie, die zahlenmäßig klein blieb, im Ansehen aber weit über der Linie stand. Als die Revolutionskriege übergriffen, geriet das Land zwischen Großbritannien und Frankreich, und die Garde stand von 1793 bis 1795 in Flandern im Feld. Mit dem französischen Winterfeldzug über die zugefrorenen Flüsse endete die Republik, und was von der Garde übrig war, ging in der Batavischen Armee auf.

On the tabletop

The Guard of the United Netherlands took the field in Flanders from 1793 to 1795, when the Revolutionary Wars reached the country. This regiment shows 19 guardsmen in firing poses, led by an officer and an NCO, with a musician and two colours. The pose stands for volley fire in line, so use it to hold a sector the enemy must not take. Small but highly regarded, the Guard belongs at an important point in your Black Powder battle line.
