Background & context

Die Lenape, in englischen Quellen Delaware, hatten ihr Kernland am Delaware River durch eine Kette erzwungener Landabtretungen verloren. Der berüchtigte Walking Purchase von 1737 gilt bis heute als Musterbeispiel dafür. Nach Braddocks Niederlage am Monongahela 1755 schlugen viele Gruppen auf französischer Seite los und trafen die Grenzsiedlungen Pennsylvanias über Jahre hart. Für sie war der Konflikt weniger ein Kolonialkrieg als ein Kampf um verlorenes Land.

On the tabletop

After Braddock's defeat on the Monongahela in 1755, many Lenape groups struck the frontier settlements of Pennsylvania on the French side. These six metal Delaware warriors represent such war parties. In Black Powder they form a small, mobile group you use to raid farms, settlements and supply routes. Alongside French troops or as a side of their own, they fight for land lost through cessions such as the Walking Purchase of 1737.
