Product details

Background & context

In the Crimean War, the Ottoman Empire fought alongside Great Britain and France against Russia. Ottoman troops defended important fortresses and supply lines and formed a central part of the Allied war effort. The army was in a phase of reform, but remained very differently organized and equipped regionally.

On the tabletop

Officers for your Ottoman cavalry: the three multi-part metal figures lead a Crimean War cavalry unit in Black Powder. This cavalry was organised in squadrons and regiments under binbashis and aghas. Place the group in front of the riders from the basic pack to mark the unit that scouts and holds the picket line. Eupatoria in 1855, where an Ottoman army threw back a Russian assault, makes a fitting scenario.
