Product details

Background & context

In the Crimean War, the Ottoman Empire fought alongside Great Britain and France against Russia. Ottoman troops defended important fortresses and supply lines, forming a central part of the Allied war effort. The army was in a period of reform but remained very inconsistently organized and equipped regionally.

On the tabletop

Four multi-part metal riders form the basis of Ottoman cavalry for the Crimean War in Black Powder. They were not meant for decisive charges like the heavy cavalry of European armies; their strength lay in scouting, picket duty and disrupting Russian movements. On the table you use them to screen your flank and delay enemy horsemen. The Danube in 1853 and 1854 and the Caucasus are fitting settings.
