    Product details

    Background & context

The Special Air Service was raised in North Africa in 1941 by David Stirling. After failed first parachute drops it switched to vehicles and used armed jeeps to strike airfields and supply depots deep behind the lines. The vehicles carried machine guns, speed taking the place of protection. By 1943 the small force had destroyed a large number of aircraft on the ground.

    On the tabletop

Three jeeps with a unit of SAS infantry, a heavy MG and a PIAT are made for quick strikes, not for holding a line. Use them against flanks, gun positions and supplies and pull them back before the enemy can react. In a fight they are easily broken, but they tie down enemy forces that have to secure their rear.
