    Product details

    Background & context

The Tiger was developed from 1941 as a heavy breakthrough tank, and meeting the Soviet T-34 and the KV-1 spurred the work on further. It saw its first action in the autumn of 1942 near Leningrad, followed shortly after by Tunisia. Around 1,350 vehicles were built until 1944, most of them in dedicated heavy tank battalions. At about 57 tonnes it was costly to build and prone to breakdowns, yet its effect at long range made it a feared sight.

    On the tabletop

The Tiger is a heavy tank that holds the centre of your list. The 88 mm gun of the real vehicle punches through most enemy tanks at long range, and the thick armour shrugs off fire. In return it is heavy, slow and rare, so use it deliberately where it has to force a breakthrough or hold a sector.
