    Product details

    Background & context

The Panzerkampfwagen V Panther was developed from 1942, after German troops had met the superior T-34 the year before. Its first action at Kursk in July 1943 suffered from technical teething troubles, and only the improved versions A and G proved reliable. Around 6,000 vehicles were built, more than the Tiger. The Panther is regarded as one of the best tanks of the war and also influenced tank design after 1945.

    On the tabletop

The Panther is the all-rounder among the German tanks of the late war years: well armoured, mobile and armed with a long 75 mm gun that stays dangerous even at long range. The sloped front armour protects it mainly against fire from ahead. You use it for breakthroughs as much as for counterattacks, as at Kursk and in the Ardennes.
