    Product details

    Background & context

The Sd.Kfz. 7 was a heavy half-track prime mover that pulled heavy guns and flak across the desert for the Afrikakorps. With the 8.8 cm Flak the army took on aircraft and tanks there. It became famous in 1941 at Halfaya Pass, where well-camouflaged 88s stopped British tank attacks. In the vastness of the desert, the prime mover made the gun a weapon that could follow the front.

    On the tabletop

Three Sd.Kfz. 7 act as prime movers for the three 88s, which thus travel with the battle instead of standing in one place. You place them behind a line you want to hold, or move them forward with the attack. The 8.8 cm gun hits aircraft and tanks at long range, but stands under fire without an escort. With infantry and tanks as a screen, the battery becomes the anchor of your anti-tank defence.
