    Product details

    Background & context

PIAT stands for Projector, Infantry, Anti-Tank and from 1943 replaced the weak Boys anti-tank rifle in the British infantry. Instead of a rocket, a strong spring drove a spigot forward, which fired the shaped-charge bomb. The weapon had only a short range but could be used from buildings and cover without a back-blast. It was found with British and Canadian troops in Italy and north-west Europe.

    On the tabletop

The PIAT teams give your British infantry a means against tanks of its own. They are cheap and agile and hit further than riflemen in close combat, with an anti-tank rating of 10. They cannot get through the thickest armour, and without armour protection they are vulnerable. When more effect against infantry is needed, you build the squads as heavy machine guns with small changes.
