    Product details

    Background & context

The Ordnance QF 25-pounder was the standard field gun of the British Empire from 1940. It fired high-explosive and smoke shells over roughly twelve kilometres and could fire on tanks in an emergency. The mix of gun and howitzer made it flexible, and troops valued its reliability. The Universal Carrier towed it and its equipment into action.

    On the tabletop

Three 25-pounders with crews form the battery, and three Universal Carriers move the guns across the table. The 25-pounder gives long-range support against infantry and vehicles and so covers the advance of your own troops. The artillery add-on rules for the Simple Rules can be accessed online after purchase, so the battery can be used to the full.
