The Airfix moulds of 1969 at their original size: 14 German Landser in 1:32 with field tunic, Knobelbecher (dice-shaker boots) and steel helmet, the uniform of the years 1939 to 1941. For many this was their first contact with the hobby; today it is an inexpensive way into the larger figures.

Product details

Background & context

The Landser of 1939 still wore the field-grey tunic with dark green collar, trousers tucked into tall marching boots and the M35 steel helmet, a look that shaped the newsreels in Poland, Norway, France and the first summer in Russia. The infantry division was the backbone of the Heer, marched on foot and was supplied by horse-drawn wagons, while the few Panzer divisions made the headlines. Only the winter of 1941/42 and the shortage of materials that followed changed uniform and equipment noticeably.

On the tabletop

Field tunic, trousers tucked into tall marching boots and steel helmet mark out the German infantryman of the early war years. Airfix has reissued these 14 figures in 1:32 from the original 1969 moulds. With them you can create scenes from the campaign in Poland through France to the first summer in Russia. At this size you can give the field grey uniforms with their dark green collars plenty of care.
