    Product details

    Background & context

Vauxhall built the Bedford QL from 1941 as the first British four-wheel-drive three-tonner, and it became the standard vehicle behind the front. More than 50,000 were built by the end of the war, in versions ranging from fuel tanker and workshop lorry to radio vehicle. Two variants bore the brunt: the QLD with an open cargo body for loads of every kind and the QLT with a tall box body that had room for a whole infantry section and its kit. Anyone who knows only the tanks from the campaign overlooks where the real work was done.

    On the tabletop

The box holds two Bedford QLs in 1:76: one with an open cargo body for supplies and one with a high body for carrying an infantry section. Both are quick to build and share the same set of markings. In a diorama they form a British column bringing ammunition, rations and soldiers forward. On the gaming table the pair adds transport to your 1:76 force, or serves as the target of a raid on the supply line.
