Product details

Background & context

The Willys MB was the vehicle that every Allied soldier could drive and everyone wanted to have. Willys and Ford built around 640,000 of them by 1945, and the airborne troops loved it especially: it fitted into a Horsa transport glider and there towed the 6-pounder anti-tank gun, which gave the paratroopers something to use against tanks in the first place. At Pegasus Bridge and in Arnhem such teams stood at the bridges long before heavier equipment followed.

On the tabletop

Jeep, trailer and 6-pounder anti-tank gun make a light team in 1:72, the kind British airborne troops brought in by glider. The decals let you build the jeep for the 6th Airborne Division in Normandy or for the headquarters of the US 4th Division in Belgium. In a diorama you place the unhitched gun beside the jeep at a bridge or a landing zone. On the gaming table the team gives your 20 mm force light anti-tank firepower with its own tow vehicle.
