Background & context

Eine deutsche Infanteriekompanie hing gegen Kriegsende an ihren Maschinengewehren. Das MG42 mit seiner extremen Feuerrate war die eigentliche Waffe des Zuges, die Schützen ringsherum trugen vor allem Munition dafür heran. Gegen Panzer half die Massenausstattung mit Panzerfaust und Panzerschreck: billig, kurz in der Reichweite, aber in Ortschaften und Wäldern gefährlich genug, dass alliierte Besatzungen ohne begleitende Infanterie ungern vorfuhren.

On the tabletop

This box of 184 figures in 12 mm scale holds a German infantry company of the late war at a one to one ratio. The 96 riflemen make up the squads, eight MG 42 teams provide their firepower, and four heavy tripod MG 42s are added. Mortars of 50 and 81 mm together with Panzerfaust and Panzerschreck give you indirect fire and anti-tank capability. Officers, NCOs, radio operators and ammunition carriers take care of leadership and supply.
