Product details

Background & context

On Iwo Jima in February 1945 many vehicles bogged down in the soft volcanic ash of the beach while Japanese defenders fired from bunkers. The amphibious tractors with their wide tracks made better progress there than wheeled vehicles. At Okinawa in April 1945, by contrast, the Marines at first came ashore almost unopposed. After the landing the LVTs served as supply carriers over ground that trucks could hardly cross.

On the tabletop

The two Marines crouch at their machine guns as if the vehicle were just running up onto the beach. Spread the stowage between the bow and stern of the cargo bay to leave room for infantry in the middle. Together with the first set of the USMC range you can crew two vehicles differently. In Bolt Action the crewed LVT suits landings on Iwo Jima or Okinawa.
