Product details

Background & context

The US infantry divisions first went into action on a larger scale in North Africa in 1942 and thereafter bore the main burden in Italy and Western Europe. Their strength lay less in the individual rifleman than in the artillery, which could be on any target within minutes by radio, and in a supply situation their opponents could only dream of. In Normandy, by contrast, the hedgerow country forced them into a grinding close-quarters fight for every single field, in which many a company had to be replaced several times over within a few weeks.

On the tabletop

The 50 American infantrymen in 1:72 scale take you from their first major action in North Africa in 1942 through Italy to Western Europe. In the Normandy hedgerow country they fought for every single field, a scene you can recreate as a diorama with a few hedges. On a 20 mm gaming table you form them into rifle squads advancing beside Shermans of the same size. The figures are unpainted.
