Background & context

Die US Army stellte ihre Luftlandedivisionen erst 1942 auf und schickte sie schon in Sizilien in den ersten großen Nachteinsatz. In der Normandie sprangen 82nd und 101st Airborne in der Nacht zum 6. Juni weit verstreut ab und kämpften tagelang als improvisierte Kampfgruppen, bis die Front sich stabilisierte. Danach folgten Market Garden und Bastogne, wo die eingeschlossenen Screaming Eagles zur Legende wurden. Bis Kriegsende blieben die Fallschirmjäger die Feuerwehr der Alliierten - leicht bewaffnet, aber überdurchschnittlich hartnäckig.

On the tabletop

In 12 mm, the 184 figures let you field an American parachute infantry company of the 82nd or 101st Airborne. Riflemen, Thompson gunners and BAR men form the platoons, supported by rifle grenades, .30 cal teams and mortars. With eight bazooka teams your lightly armed force can stop tanks as well. The company suits actions in Normandy around Carentan and Sainte-Mère-Église, at Market Garden or in the Battle of the Bulge.
