Included are options for the early version with a low cabin back and the later SU-76 M with a higher cabin back. Historically, the SU-76 was a widely used Soviet support vehicle based on the T-70 chassis.

Background & context

Die Rote Armee brauchte 1943 ein Fahrzeug, das Infanterie begleiten konnte und trotzdem billig zu bauen war. Die Antwort war die SU-76: eine 76-mm-Kanone auf dem gestreckten Fahrgestell des leichten T-70, oben offen und ringsum nur dünn gepanzert. Beliebt war sie bei den Besatzungen nicht, doch über 14.000 gebaute Stück machten sie nach dem T-34 zum meistproduzierten sowjetischen Kettenfahrzeug des Krieges. Die frühe Ausführung trug ein niedriges Kabinenheck, die spätere SU-76 M ein höheres.

On the tabletop

With six SU-76s in 12 mm you field the self-propelled guns that accompanied Soviet infantry from 1943. The 76 mm gun on the T-70 chassis supports your riflemen against positions and lighter vehicles, but the open-topped, thin armour calls for distance from enemy tanks. You build early vehicles with the low cab rear or the later SU-76 M. Crew in overalls or winter clothing and extra stowage are included.
