Product details

Background & context

The Mustang was created in 1940 to a British order and only became a legend with the Rolls-Royce Merlin: with it the aircraft climbed to the heights where the bomber formations of the 8th Air Force flew, and with extra tanks it stayed at their side all the way to Berlin. The D version brought the teardrop-shaped all-round-vision canopy, six 12.7 mm machine guns and the K-14 gunsight. From spring 1944 this turned the air war over the Reich, as the escort fighters could now reach everywhere.

On the tabletop

With its bubble canopy and drop tanks, the P-51D escorted American bombers all the way to Berlin. This starter set contains 31 parts in 1:72, a decal sheet with American insignia, plus acrylic paints, glue and a brush. So for your first kit you need to buy nothing extra. The finished Mustang can go on the shelf, or fly at 20 mm scale over your Second World War ground forces.
