Background & context

Über eine halbe Million CCKW liefen ab 1941 vom Band, gebaut von Yellow Truck & Coach für GMC. Die Soldaten nannten den 2,5-Tonner nur Deuce and a Half. Ein großer Teil der Produktion ging per Lend-Lease an die Rote Armee, wo die Lastwagen die Offensiven ab 1943 überhaupt erst beweglich machten. Der GMC war damit weniger Waffe als Voraussetzung für alles andere.

On the tabletop

The starter set holds the GMC CCKW 353 in 1:35 together with basic acrylic colours, a brush and glue. The truck comes with a detailed engine and a driver figure. Two markings are included, a vehicle of the French 2e DB from August 1944 and an American one from Normandy. At this scale the model is meant for the display cabinet and the diorama, for example a scene on the landing beach or in a French village with the convoy passing through.
