Product details

Background & context

The Chasseurs Alpins were formed in the 1880s because France wanted to secure its Alpine border against Italy. Their oversized beret, which the men themselves called la tarte, became the badge of a force that saw itself as an elite. In 1940 they fought at Narvik in Norway, where they were among the few Allied formations that actually gained ground.

On the tabletop

The starter set for the French mountain troops holds 76 parts for six figures in 1:35 scale, along with acrylic paints in basic shades, brush and glue. The mark of the Chasseurs Alpins was the oversized beret, which the men themselves called la tarte. In 1940 the unit fought at Narvik in Norway. At around 5 cm tall, the figures show faces and folds clearly, so you can practise painting larger figures on them.
