Product details

Background & context

In 1939 the Somua S35 was regarded as France's best tank and as the yardstick for everything its neighbours had in the field. In May 1940 that was of little help: the vehicles were spread across the cavalry divisions, while the German formations attacked concentrated. Within weeks most of them were lost. The Wehrmacht took over the captured vehicles as the Panzerkampfwagen 35-S 739(f) and used them for training and for occupation security duties.

On the tabletop

From 40 parts you build the Somua S35 in 1:72 scale, around 7 cm long when finished. France considered it its best tank in 1939, yet in the campaign of May 1940 it was almost entirely lost, as the vehicles were spread across the cavalry divisions. The Wehrmacht took over captured vehicles as Panzerkampfwagen 35-S 739(f) for training and security duties. In a diorama of the 1940 campaign or on a 20 mm gaming table you show it in action.
