    Product details

    Background & context

The Tiger was a tank that intimidated its opponents with its name alone. 57 tonnes, ten centimetres of frontal armour and the 8.8 cm gun, against which no Allied tank stood a chance in 1942, made it the dreaded opponent on every front from Leningrad to Tunisia. The price was high: the Tiger was expensive, thirsty, hard to recover and, at around 1,350 built, remained rare, while the Soviets and Americans built their T-34s and Shermans in tens of thousands. Many Tigers were not knocked out but blown up by their own crews because fuel or spare parts were lacking.

    On the tabletop

With 39 parts, simple tracks and only a few sub-assemblies, this 1:72 Tiger 1 is aimed at beginners. Paint, polystyrene cement and a brush are included, plus decals for one Second World War marking. The German heavy tank with its 8.8 cm gun first reached the front in September 1942 and remains one of the best-known tanks of all time. You can build it as your first display model or set it against a Sherman in the same scale.
